Yeah yeah, we know... we're a climbing gym, not a running club! BUT, not only are so many climbers also runners, we try to support our community's athletes whenever possible. The Pittsburgh Marathon is a huge event for the city, so here is how we plan to be a part of it all. RACE DAY = SUNDAY, MAY 1
BEFORE RACE DAY
YOGA CLASSES: Join ASCEND Yoga on Monday 4/25 and Friday 4/29 from 7-8:15p for an intentional yoga practice + guided meditation for optimum athletic performance. Rest + Renew with this offering of restorative and yin-like postures to soften into poses and fully relax. Alongside the subtle movement and stretching will be a guided meditation to clearly visualize your athletic potential of becoming stronger, better conditioned, and deeply replenished. Feel rested and rejuvenated.
STRETCHING VIDEOS: We're cooking up some short, simply, yet effective stretches for runners to use as part of their preparation. We'll soon be releasing them on the ASCEND Yoga Instagram.
ASCEND is proud to organize a volunteer cleanup crew to assist runners at the start line and mitigate race-day litter!
Cleanup crew volunteers will be able to check in on Sunday, May 1st from 4:30a - 10:00a.
Prior to the start of the race, volunteers will be positioned at the start corrals and will gradually lead participants to the start line as directed by the corral manager. Volunteers will ensure runners remain in their marked corral until the start of the race. Volunteers are also responsible for cleaning up their assigned area before they leave. Volunteers will check in at the Benedum Room at the Wyndham and should anticipate staying outside until the marathon's close.
AFTER RACE DAY
Aid your recovery with this special, post marathon, Rest + Renew Yoga class. Restorative and yin-like postures to soften into poses and fully relax, guided meditation, intention setting and breath work. Feel rested and rejuvenated. Monday, May 2, from 7p-8p at ASCEND South Side.
