Commonly Asked Frequently Asked Questions (CAFAQs)
So, can I just come in or do I need to make a reservation?
No reservations needed! Please, just come on in and we'll take care of the rest. Though, we do recommend reading our FAQ Page!
Do I need to make an account and sign a waiver if I'm not climbing?
YES PLEASE, everyone who enters an ASCEND climbing facility needs to do this, but only once every two years. Thank you for understanding and helping us remain compliant and uphold best practices for our wonderful industry. We recommend doing this before you arrive to save time during the check in process!
What do I need to do for minors (17 and under) to be able to climb?
All minors need an account and a valid waiver on file, which needs to be created by a legal guardian.
All minors need to be accompanied by an adult during their first visit.
Minors who are 13 and under need to be accompanied by an adult during all visits. In fact, they require DIRECT SUPERVISION, which we happen to have helpful guidelines for!
If you are bringing a group of 5 or more kids, you must make a reservation, as ASCEND Coaches need to be present in many instances. Please call or email ahead to inquire!

Why should we visit ASCEND over the other gyms in Pittsburgh?
This is a tough one, because we LOVE climbing so much, we couldn't possibly restrict you from choosing your own destiny. That being said, we are very proud of the following tidbits:
We have multiple locations to choose from, with all types of climbing terrain from bouldering to lead climbing. Also, our memberships are GLOBAL, meaning you get everything, everywhere!
We are 100% locally (Pittsburgh, PA) owned and operated. Check out our story!
ASCEND's owners met as climbing buddies in the mid-aughts. We're not independently wealthy and we still love climbing with our friends and family. We are truly trying to live the American dream and we geniunely appreciate your support.
Create An Account
sign your waiver
Before entering the climbing area at ASCEND, all climbers and visitors must have a user account and a current Release of Liability Form (Waiver) signed and in our system. If you are 17 years of age or younger, your Waiver must be signed by a parent or documented legal guardian and you must be accompanied by a guardian on your first visit. The Waiver can be completed online ahead of time or during your first visit to the facility. You only have to do this once and this waiver applies to all ASCEND facilities!
