ASCEND Safety Month!

As you know — CLIMBING IS DANGEROUS — which is why we're focusing on all things safety this month. The fun won't stop, but let's take a moment to address and highlight some important things that impact our crew and our climbers.

STAFF TRAINING UPDATES

  • Increased and refreshed trainings on bouldering, rope wall usage, youth climbers, adaptive systems, first aid, and more!

UPDATED CERTIFICATION PROCESS

  • Bouldering: New visitors must now demonstrate a proper fall.

  • Auto-Belay: If you don't visit within three months, you'll need to test out again.

  • Top-Rope + Lead: If you don't visit within 12 months, you'll need to test out again.

CLIMBING GEAR CHECK 'N' CHATS

As part of Safety Month here at ASCEND, we're hosting a series of Climbing Gear Check 'N' Chats, casual events at the gyms where you can meet with our Director of Retail and a Climbing Guide to learn more about the status of your climbing gear.

Together, we'll take a closer look at your ropes, harnesses, slings, carabiners, or any other climbing gear you are curious about! While we won't certify anything as "safe to use", we can offer up informed advice on what you should be considering when assessing the longevity and safety of your climbing gear.
