ASCEND teams up with ROCK and RESOLE!

Why should I resole my climbing shoes? They smell really bad.

Resoling your shoes has 2 benefits - decreased co$t  and decreased waste.

Your shoes can be resoled 3 or more times. That saves you the cost of 2 additional pairs of shoes- AND -keeps 2 additional pairs out of landfills. Resoling won't take care of the smell, but pick up some Friendly Foot in the gear shop while you’re waiting on your shoes.

Why should I resole through ASCEND?

Have you ever been to a post office? Did you enjoy that experience? Nah. Me either. Drop your shoes off at ASCEND, we’ll ship the shoes FOR YOU. Yeah. We do the adulting.

So, how does this work?

Bring your shoes to the front desk. Ask to have them resoled. Fill out a form. Give us $50. We ship them out the first Monday of every month. Wait 4 weeks. DONE. *additional charges may apply. Keep reading.

This seems too good to be true?

Maybe it is. Maybe it can be ever so slightly more complicated if you don’t take good care of your shoes. What can be resoled is the rubber on the bottom of your shoe. If you blow a toe out the front, or the rand, you’ll need a new toe cap. That costs a little extra. If it's not super obvious, since we’re not cobblers, we let the folks at Rock and Resole make the call on new toe caps.

I’m really passionate about climbing shoe rubber - what are my options?

Vibram XS

Classic version of the vibram rubber series - good on all types of surfaces. Most beginner shoes by La Sportiva or Scarpa use this rubber. Sticky and durable.

Vibram XS Grip 2

Upgraded XS - way more sticky! Its also harder, which makes it great for edging. This rubber is found in intermediate - high performance climbing shoes.

Vibram XS Edge

A much harder rubber meant for edging. Extremely durable, but not as precise or sensitive as the rest of the grip series

5.10 Stealth XX (Onyxx)

Hard rubber meant for precision edging and durability. The 5.10 arrowhead uses this rubber.

5.10 Stealth C4

Most common 5.10 rubber. Extremely sticky. Good for smearing and edging - all around versatility and performance.

5.10 Stealth HF

Extremely sensitive. Meant for overhangs and bouldering problems. Also extremely sticky. Designed for super high performance shoes.

I don’t care about shoe rubber, and I don’t want to care about shoe rubber?
