ASCEND hosted its first USAC sanctioned competition this past weekend. Although the vibe was different than our Dyno Comp in July, it was awesome to see youth climbers tear up our walls.

Kids from ages 8-18 had 3 hours to accumulate as many points as possible by sending numbered routes throughout the gym. Climbers’ top 5 climbs were used in scoring, with the number of attempts used to break ties.

ASCEND was happy to see climbers from Ohio, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Georgia, & D.C.

ASCEND’s own team, The A-Team, is newly formed as of September 2017. This was many of kids’ first competition. Overall, The A-Team’s reaction was positive and they’re looking forward to working hard for future competitions.
